Nessa Dalglish

Painted Stained Glass

Originally from the Lake District, Nessa is now based in South Norfolk, where she works from a peaceful studio overlooking a fen teeming with wildlife. In the summer months, glow worms flicker in the grasses outside her window — just one of many quiet inspirations behind her work.

Nessa specialises in leaded glass, using traditional kiln-fired stained-glass painting methods that date back hundreds of years. Each piece involves carefully layering and firing multiple stages of paint, resulting in rich, intricate images that are both timeless and unique.

Nessa’s delicate glass paintings reflect the natural world around her — birds in song, foxes in the undergrowth, a barn owl in flight in the dusky night sky or the shimmer of a dragonfly’s wing. Some pieces carry a playful, modern twist, while others are simply a tribute to her love of wildlife and the subtle beauty of the English countryside.

From hanging window panels to custom pieces for doors, and smaller items such as magnets and a selection of cards of her elegant designs, her work brings the outside in, capturing fleeting moments of nature in coloured glass and light.
