Paul Honour

Leatherwork

Paul has recently joined the Norfolk Craft Guild and is an artisan leatherwork maker. Paul makes premium leatherwork bags and accessories by hand using traditional leatherwork methods. Craftsmanship has always been part of his life, as Paul’s creative journey began with woodworking, a skill and passion shared with his father. Countless hours spent in the workshop nurtured an appreciation for working with natural materials and creating objects built to last. As his father’s projects grew and workshop space became increasingly limited, Paul found himself searching for a new creative outlet – one that would soon lead him in an unexpected direction.

In 2022, a chance encounter with a leatherworking video online sparked a curiosity that quickly became a passion. Armed with a single piece of leather, a few basic tools, some dye, and plenty of determination, Paul began teaching himself the craft. His first project was a handmade dog collar for his beloved dog, Axle, adapted from a belt pattern. With leather still left to use, he moved on to creating a wallet for himself and then a bag, which was soon purchased by a friend.

What began as an experiment quickly revealed a natural talent. Encouraged by the response to his early work, Paul reinvested in higher-quality leathers, specialist tools, and an expanding collection of patterns and techniques. As his confidence and skills developed, so did the range of products he could offer.

Today, Paul creates beautifully handcrafted leather goods that combine practicality, durability, and timeless style. From wallets and bags to bespoke accessories and commissioned pieces, each item is individually crafted and can be customised in a variety of leather colours and hardware finishes.

Paul’s work reflects a commitment to quality materials, careful construction, and attention to detail with his meticulous stitching that ensures every piece is made to be used and enjoyed for years to come.

Whether creating a unique gift, a personalised commission, or an everyday essential, Paul takes pride in producing leatherwork that is both functional and distinctive. Every item is supplied with comprehensive leather care and cleaning guidance, helping customers preserve the beauty and character of their purchase long into the future.

Rooted in traditional craftsmanship yet driven by a willingness to learn and evolve, Paul’s work demonstrates how a simple spark of inspiration can grow into a rewarding creative journey – transforming raw materials into handcrafted pieces with lasting purpose and character.
